HYROX Berlin 2025 at Tempelhof Airport: A Race Between History, Sweat and Hail

HYROX Berlin 2025 – When the Weather Becomes Part of the Race
After our debut in Barcelona, we knew we wanted to face HYROX again — stronger, smarter, as a team.
The choice was HYROX Berlin 2025, held at the iconic Tempelhof Airport — a place with heavy history and enormous presence. What we didn't know was that besides the physical challenge, the race would bring one completely unexpected experience: a battle with the weather.
Tempelhof has a unique energy on its own. Vast runways, an industrial atmosphere, crumbling hangars — everything created a raw backdrop that suited HYROX perfectly. Already during the morning warm-up, strong wind was blowing and the sky above us didn't look promising. But at that moment, we didn't overthink it — we were focused.
The race started fast. The first running sections on the runway felt good, the workouts in the concrete zones flowed, and we pushed the sleds with determination. Adrenaline. Commitment. Flow.
And then it happened.
During the fourth running section, the sky darkened and rain started to fall. At first, it was light and refreshing — almost welcome. But within minutes, it turned into an icy downpour. And then came something completely unexpected — hail.
Hard, sharp, unforgiving.
On the open runway, there was nowhere to hide. We were running straight into the wind, hailstones hitting our faces, trying to hold our pace.
It felt like a movie scene. Extreme. A mental test.
And a moment we will never forget.
At that point, Ria and I just nodded at each other — "We keep going."
And we ran. In soaked shoes, breathing cold air, but with even stronger determination.

Back in the workout zone
When we reached the workout zone again, it felt like we had already finished one race — and that a second one was just beginning.
Wall Balls at the end are no longer about technique.
They are about pure will.
But we did it.
Together.
Side by side. Soaked. Frozen. But happy.
More than a result
HYROX Berlin 2025 gave us more than just a time and a placement.
It gave us an experience that made us stronger — not only physically, but also as a couple.
The knowledge that even when "hailstorms" come, we will still stand next to each other and keep pushing forward.
Tempelhof was raw, real, and unforgettable.
And now we already know that Hamburg and London will be the next chapters we want to write — whether it rains, hails, snows, or the sun is shining.
